McStay, Emotional AI
The historical emphasis of AI has been on intellect rather than feeling. This reflects a historic injustice in Western thought to the role of emotions in human life that is replicated in AI. Rather than treating emotion as that which helps machines interact and adapt to context, place, people and situations, AI has typically been conceived in terms of ratiocination, disembodied cognition and utility.
